Name Army Air Corps uniform grouping of child, Jeanne M. Pryor

Catalog ID HCM5440
Year circa 1944
Description A well-made pinks and greens uniform grouping, made for Jeanne Marion Pryor. The uniform consists, of a brown wool shirt, a "pink" skirt with belt, a khaki tie, and a "pink" overseas cap. Also included is a selection of photos, a postcard, and a poem.

The cap is officer-quality, of gabardine (?), with pink rayon (?) lining. It is piped in blue/orange. There is a small enamel flag on the left side.

The shirt appears to be crudely shortened from a well-made child's shirt. Insignia includes a 2" (child-size) Army Air Corps SSI, embroidered on blue felt, with a blue border, and a 1 3/8" sterling pilot's wings. Hanging from the left breast pocket buttonhole is a painted medallion, with the 15th Air Force insignia on one side, and an island on the other, with "CAPRI | 1945". On the left collar is a small Air Corps Branch insignia (sterling?), and there's a bright gold device, similar to an officer's cap insignia. It is prong-back, and installed upside-down. Over her right breast pocket, is a white name badge, showing young Jeanne wearing the uniform, next to the Army Air Corps insignia, both over her name, in blue. The lower edge identifies it as being from "WESTERN BADGE & BUTTON CO., LOS ANGELES".

The cotton tie has a snap-fit, and a label from "Sta-Ti | REG. U.S. PATENT OFFICE | U.S. PATENT 2055126 | L(?) SAMTER & SONS SAN FRANCISCO".

The skirt, of the same fabric as the cap, appears professionally made, but unmarked. An internal waistband has buttonholes to attach it to buttons along the bottom of the shirt. The waist closes on the left side with snaps and hooks-and-eyes. There is a belt of OD wool.
