Name Typewritten poem, "A Cap for Jeanne"
Catalog ID HCM5449
Year circa 1944-1945
Description An original drawing, pencil on card, showing a P-51 pulling up after a run at some tanks on a road. In the upper right, it says "drawn espetialy [sic] | for Jeanne Pryor | By Bob Kimes (?)".

"A CAP FOR JEANNE

For you, my impish little Jeannie
I send a gay Italian beannie.
Its [sic] blue and grey and pert and snappy.
I hope it fits, and makes you happy.
This very day.

Wear it while you ride your bike.
Wear it when you take a hike.
Wear it atop that sprightly head.
Wear it 'til you're called for bed.
And you obey.

When you've tired of it, put it away
And maybe on another day
You'll put it on and skip out fast
To meet your Daddy, home at last.
Home to stay."

Typewritten on thin paper, with watermark "HAMPSHIRE | CITADEL BOND | RAG CONTENT".

Unsigned, but attributed to Carl Pryor, to his daughter, Jeanne.
