A child's olive drab officer's uniform, with "U.S." insignia and 10th Armored Division SSI, with gold-piped overseas cap with small Captain's bars, and simple zipper-fly trousers.
Coat has high-quality cast (unofficial) gilt buttons, and an orange-on-cream "Saks Fifth Avenue" label at the collar. Brown rayon half-lining, partially quilted, with white cotton sleeve lining. Integrated cloth belt with brass buckle. Belt had a snap at the end, removed. Early (flat) clutch-back "U.S." insignia. No other insignia appears to have been worn. Gold braid at sleeves. Lined pockets. Lower left pocket contains an olive-drab handkerchief, with a number written on it in ink.
Simple tailored trousers with zipper fly. Two front slash pockets, only. WWII-era teel "TALON" zipper with superimposed "V".
Well-made overseas cap with gold piping and small USN/USMC-style pin-back Captain's bars.
The child's father was an Intelligence Officer in the European Theater. |
