Name Child's U.S. Navy WWII pilot's uniform set

Catalog ID HCM6144
Year circa 1943-1950
Description A child's khaki twill naval aviator's uniform consisting of coat and trousers, with matching suspenders.

The coat has two false breast pockets (just flaps with buttons), and two pleated patch pockets at the waist (with buttons attached to the flaps). Above the left breast pocket is a pair of wings with a propeller in the center, embroidered in gold on a rectangle of the same fabric as teh coat. The buttons are U.S. Navy officer's style, but of a cheap riveted construction. There are two gold half-stripes, and a button, at each cuff. The coat is lined in a soft cotton-like fabric. There is a hole repaired in the right side of the lower back. A woven label in the collar: "Johnny Doughboy | MADE IN CALIFORNIA | By Genesy".

The trousers are a slightly lighter shade, and have sewn-in U.S. Army-style buttons. The suspenders are one-piece, and utilize the same buttons. There is a repair similar to that on the coat, on the left pocket (through the entire pocket) of the trousers.

There is heavy staining to both pieces.
