| Description | A light brown cotton twill four-pocket tunic with stand-up collar. The collar is thick, with two hook/eye sets. There is a darker loop at the back of the collar. The buttons are high-quality dark U.S. Army buttons, held through sewn eyelets with round clips, and marked on the backs, "NEW YORK | CITY BUTTON WORKS --". The matching breeches are well made, with a watch pocket, and brass eyelets for the ankle laces, which are missing, along with a few of the eyelets. There is an adjustment strap and buckle at the back. They are well worn. Ex-Peter Coleman collection. Pictured in "Wee Warriors and Playtime Patriots", p.80. |
