| Description | A crude brown unlined wool-blend play uniform. The buttons on all three pieces are riveted, dish-style on the trousers, and U.S. Army-style on the coat and cap. The coat has a four-button front, four false-flapped pockets, and stand-up collar and epaulets. Above the left breast pocket is a pocket-length red/white/blue "ribbon". There is a worn tag in the collar, "Size 10". The trousers have single yellow stripes, matching the double stripes on the coat cuffs. The cap is has a wire form, a braid stripe around the hat-band, and a very thin false-leather chinstrap. There are infantry crossed-rifles crudely sewn to the front. The false-leather headband is deteriorating. Ex-Peter Coleman collection. Pictured in "Wee Warriors and Playtime Patriots", p.129. |
