Name USMC winter service uniform, for a child

Catalog ID HCM6123
Year circa 1942-1945
Description A green wool USMC winter service uniform, consisting of coat and trousers, made for a child. There is a single wool-on-wool Private First Class stripe on the left sleeve, and an embroidered-on-felt 5th Marine Division SSI on the right shoulder (two inches from the seam). There is a sterling silver "Marksman" bar on the left chest. This came pinned towards the center edge of the pocket, under the lapel, instead of centered over the pocket.

It is very accurate to the issue uniform, with pleated chest pockets, and bellows waist pockets. While the pocket and epaulet buttonholes are of tan thread, as seen on WWII-era uniforms, the four front buttonholes are of green thread, which I associate with later uniforms (although was used in wartime, see USMC Winter Service Coat and cloth belt, 2nd Div, Cpl Lingle). It is lined in black and white (sleeves and trousers) cotton. The buttons are plastic, and the collar EGA insignia have lobed zinc nuts, and may be wartime.

The jacket includes an internal chest pocket. The trousers have two front slash pockets, and a watch pocket.
