| Description | A Thai tiger stripe flight suit made for a small child. Small (1 7/8") Command Pilot Wings, Lieutenant Colonel oak leaves on the shoulders, a Snoopy in flight helmet and red scarf on right chest, and red, white and blue "THAILAND" shield on the right shoulder. All insignia is direct-embroidered. Fasteners include nine zippers, four buttons (two at each side of the waist), and one snap, at the neck. Zippers are marked "YKK", "ARROW", and "VENUS" (main front zipper, painted black), all vertically. The pattern, which has a 16.0" repeat length, appears to be "Thai, Tadpole Sparse Pattern - TTS", as described on pp.195-196 in "Tiger Patterns", Sgt. Richard Denis Johnson. That reference also describes Thai-made garments as having internal serge stitching with "an all white thread which possessed a silky appearance," which this garment also has, and states that USAF flight suits are often found in this pattern. Published in "Wee Warriors and Playtime Patriots", p.198. Ex-Peter Coleman Collection. |
