Name Child's pinks & greens Army uniform, "SMAL-FRi"
Catalog ID HCM5558
Year circa 1939-1950
Description Green coat with gold stripes on the cuffs. Tan trousers. Brown overseas cap (slightly different fabric) with gold piping.

Coat is unlined, with the front faced in a striped fabric. It has a tag saying "SMAL-FRi | REG. | LOS ANGELES", along with a more crude tag with "LOT" and "SIZE 6". A Private's stripe and an overseas bar are in the lower right pocket. Brass buttons are riveted on, and are of a pre-WWII US Navy pattern.

Trousers have a button fly, split back, and elastic to the sides. Label says "SMAL-FRi | REG | MADE IN LOS ANGELES". There is significant staining to the right side. A blued-steel straight-pin is in the left pocket. Evidence of a shorter hem is visible on the inside of the legs.

The cap is poorly formed, although well constructed, with leather (leatherette?) sweatband, and size tag "MEDIUM".

SMAL-FRi was a trademark issued to Lee Manufacturing Co., Los Angeles (Serial 452,440). It was filed April 20, 1942, but claimed use since April 4, 1939.
