Description |
A studio photograph of a young boy (8-10) in dark baggy pants and a Zouave jacket. On the back, "PHOTOGRAPHED | BY | CHARLES FOEDISCH, | Honesdale, Pa.".
Possibly a CW-period photo. More research is required.
Charles G. Foedisch was born in Saxony in 1828-29. He was a photographer in Carbondale in 1860. We was in Honesdale by the time he registered for the Draft in 1863. By the 1880 census (age 51), he seems to be living with his brother-in-law in Santa Clara, CA, working as a store clerk. Health problems? The 1900 census puts him in Chicago, with his son's family, and lists him as a painter. |
