Description A Belgian child's uniform and flag, consisting of a jacket, epaulets, pants, shirt, shako, gloves, cartridge (primer?) pouch, sword belt, and flag.

The jacket is dark blue cotton, with a 5-button front, red piping and cuffs, and gold trim around the cuffs. It is hand-made, and un-lined and un-marked. The epaulets are cotton, but decorated with heavy gold trim.

The trousers are red cotton with a blue (XXXX) stripe down each leg. (not yet inspected).

The shako is blue cotton, matching the jacket, over thick cardboard, with leather (????) visor and brass chin strap, buttons and insignia. There is a plume of red horsehair at the top.

The gloves are high-quality white (material ????).

The cartridge box is made of stamped brass and leather, with a cotton belt with brass decoration. The 1949-pattern brass Artillery badge has a crown over crossed cannons and flaming bomb, with the motto, "REGIS ULTIMA RATIO."

The sword belt is white cotton, with brass hardware and rivets.

The flag is on a round pole with brass finial. The flag design is printed on one side, but the flag is nicely decorated with gold trim.

It came with a handwritten note, saying: "Pierre's kid military costume fabricated by Granny and Daddy Georges + Artillery head dress (+/- 9 years old)." (Thanks to Virginie for the transcription and translation!)

ALl but flag and shako are in a fancy book-paper-covered box, with the note stuck in the inside of the lid.
