---|---|---|
Catalog ID | HCM5277 | |
Year | circa 1943-1946 | |
Description | Mint condition Sailor Peg Boat. No decal. Sailors are comprised of a colored tube, a head with a hole in it, and a colored hat, which has an unpainted peg to go through the other two pieces. (This was changed in 1951, the second year of the 4-sailor boat, to include the peg on the bottom of the head). Dating: the tissue paper used is the same as in Holgate #1003 "Wheel Peg", Type II, with box and Holgate #5137 "Streamliner Choo Choo", new in box, which have been dated to 1946 and 1948, respectively. The box is also similar, though printed in blue, instead of red. The boat decoration, with three thin lines above the waves, appears to date it between 1943 and 1946 in the catalogs. The sailors were reduced from six to four in 1947. Un-reinforced manila cardboard box, printed in blue. Left flap marked "COOPER | PAPER | BOX CORP | BUFFALO", with the "C" surrounding the rest, with "OOPER" as the bottom leg. Box has "STUDIED AND COMMENDED PARENTS' MAGAZINE CONSUMER SERVICE BUREAU" logo on top right. |
