Name Magazine, Film, Type A-4, in box, with broken seal

Catalog ID HCM4780
Year circa 1937-1940
Description Cardboard box with green label, containing an unused A-4 film magazine in a stamped steel two part box, similar to a traveling soap-box. The magazine and box are painted black.

Label states:
"MAGAZINE, FILM | TYPE A-4 | LOADED WITH | 1 ROLL 16 mm x 18 1/2 ft. | TYPE 1 PANCHROMATIC | GUN CAMERA SAFETY FILM | FOR USE IN | U. S. ARMY AIR CORPS | GUN CAMERAS TYPE H-1, 2 & 3 | EMUL. No. 5206-13-01 | SPEC. No. 31038-A | ORDER No. DA-W535 AC-1090 | Made in U. S. A. by | EASTMAN KODAK CO. | Rochester, N. Y.", and is stamped "EXPIRES MAR 1943".

Label has a different "EMUL. No." from Magazine, Film, Type A-4, in box, with missing seal, among other less important changes.

The label seals one end. The other end had a separate seal, now broken, which is marked "OPEN HERE".

The magazine is sealed with black tape, and is printed with information relating to patents (up to 1935, in the U.S.). The logos of Kodak ("EK") and International Projector Corp. ("IP") are stamped into the magazine. See US Patent 2,022,353 (issued 1935).

This was likely intended for use in Gun Camera, W-7B (US Type H-3), but the same cartridge, loaded with less film, would have also been used in USN Gun Camera Mark VI Mod. 3 with transit case (and USN Gun Camera, Mark VI, Model 3).
