19th Century half-binding in rough calf with worn marbled boards. Edges appear to be trimmed and [painted red] later. Most of book block in very good shape, with some insect damage towards the middle, and some repairs at the end. Binding and repairs are not well done. Modern gilt on red label, "Animadversions | of | WARRE | 1639". No engraved title by Marshall.

Profusely illustrated with both cuts and plates, as well as military formations illustrated with type, as in "Militarie Discipline: or the Young Artillery-Man", a slightly earlier military manual, also printed by Dawson.
