Blue gilt cloth hardcover. First Edition, numbered #217 of 600. Signed presentation "by The Author" (1946) on the 1/2 title, with pasted manuscript poem signed by the author pasted on the dedication page.
The author went to work at Holgate Brothers Company in Kane, PA, as a Vice President in 1902, after retiring as Superintendent of Schools there. He became President as well as acquiring a controlling interest in the company by the 1930s. He was responsible for bringing Jarvis Rockwell to the company to design toys, when Rockwell left Wall Street after the crash. |
