Description |
Body of cart unusually appears to be of rough lacquered oak (or beech?). Wooden axles with blue wheels and pull-string ball, similar to late WWII manufacture. Axles are held by small steel nails through the bottom. Drilled pockets are painted the color of the cups that fit in them. The small blue piece in the center is a peg, not hollow. No decal.
Very fine condition. Only evidence of play are wear to the ball, and a single not in the pull-string.
I'm calling this a type II, where type I (1941) had four differently sized cups, and type III (1950) had train and other designs printed on it. All catalog photos of type I-III had steel axles.
Un-reinforced cardboard box, with damage to one end. Detached flap marked "COOPER | PAPER | BOX CORP | BUFFALO", with the "C" surrounding the rest, with "OOPER" as the bottom leg.
Box has "STUDIED AND COMMENDED PARENTS' MAGAZINE CONSUMER SERVICE BUREAU" logo on top left. |
