| Description | Early 28-unit Holgate wagon of colored blocks, missing one "column" (cylinder) piece. All other pieces present, though well worn. Wagon has early 1 1/8" diameter wooden hubs, and is unpainted, except for the red wheels. Thick pull rope is broken and frayed. Only markings are stenciled on bottom of wagon: "HOLGATE | JUNIOR BLOCKS", and "NO 424 | 24 PCS". As seen in the 1934 and 1935 catalogs. See Holgate #424 24 Junior Blocks, Colored, in wagon (unmarked) for what is probably a later variation with larger hubs, an additional support on the bottom, and screws instead of nails. |
