Description |
A worn and dented silver pair case watch, both cases hallmarked 1767 (M) with worn maker's mark, possibly "IR" in block letters.
The gilt verge fusee movement is signed "Wm Sharp London 9979". The cock's 90-degree pierced foot and the pierced sideplate, along with the square pillars and the large minute numbers on the face, all point to a 1760s date. A crack and small chip on the face. Small chips to the crystal. Gilt hands. The inner case has a rough repair to the hinge.
No known William Sharp working in London in this time period.
