Description | "The Young Mill-Wright and Miller's Guide In Five Parts--Embellished with Twenty Five Plates". First edition, by Oliver Evans, Philadelphia. Evans invented an automated grist mill, and received U.S. Patent #3 in 1790 for his mill improvements. Leather bound, modern leather title on spine. Some water stains and other minor damage. Twenty-six plates, despite the sub-title. Twelve plates after section IV, all complete except plate VIII, fourteen complete plates after section V. Covers everything from standard physics/mechanics to stone selection and mill-building. Appendix lists list of subscribers (those who put 50% ($1) down to finance the printing). Subscribers include George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and many other Senators and Congressmen. In section V (by Thomas Ellicot, Mill-wright), Plate X shows the "latest improvements", which are described starting on page viii of the preface to that section. GATE Club 2017.
